First time driving in this heat (30c) - a couple of niggles
Discussion
Hi All
Been driving all afternoon and loving it for the most part. A couple of things have arisen though.
1) My car normally pops and bangs on the overrun. It was behaving normally to start with but then the pops and bangs either reduced or disappeared completely. It also started cutting out at junctions occasionally. Stopping and firing up again sometimes seemed to resurrect the 'bangs', but not always. I checked the stepper and it was very clean. One thing I did notice is that the stepper only 'chattered' for half a second as opposed to the normal couple of seconds when you turn the ignition off, I've just tried it on a cool engine and the long duration chatter is back. Is it sticking? Possibly expanding slightly in extreme heat and jamming?
2) The fuel pump is making a loud buzz rather than a whirr when I turn the ignition on. Heat related or just coincidence? Sign of impeding failure?
A great afternoons driving though...now where's that aftersun?
