Plenty of TVR`s turned up on Saturday and what a great day.!Nice to meet some of the chaps on this forum and obviously alot of hand shaking and banter. Thanks to Kevin for working the camera.Managed a top speed of 110.18mph and did the 1/4 mile in 12.9676 seconds so not bad for the first time..

Good to meet you Daz.
Nudging into the 12's was a good effort by all accounts.
It seems a lot were struggling for grip on Saturday.
I cant believe nobody was willing to try my Mickeys. I guarentee they would have knocked 1/2 a second off most peoples ET!
Can you give me some tips ,should i have the engine at a constant RPM at take off and if so what RPM and when should i be changing gear..I have a spare pair of rear wheels so what tyres would i need..Nudging into the 12's was a good effort by all accounts.

There are some basic tips but every driver and car are different and you need to find what works with practice and knowing what you did different to gain that tenth or 2.On most road tyres you want to run maybe 14-16 psi in the rear and have the fronts high to reduce drag a little.
Lightweight cars with fairly high levels of torque dont need much revs off the line to break traction. Find that sweet spot where you feel the power pushing you forward and the tyres are at the limit of traction with minimal if any wheelspin.
There is really no need to go near the rev limit and shortshifting from first to second could help avoiding breaking traction again.
A pair of soft compound trackday tyres such as Toyo R888s make a big difference to grip and could knock 1/2 second off most cars ET IMHO.
Daz. As Derek said, each to ones own but my car isn't dissimilar to your's.
I raised the revs to about 4k then on go, fed the clutch out fairly rapidly and progressively, not dumped, feeling for slip and adjusting clutch position as necessary. It's strange how in that first second of clutch release, the brain works fast enough for you to make minor adjustments..
Maybe it was adrenaline but I red lined every gear.
I was running triple 8's at Odiham and, (can I mention it again Derek) I ran a 12,65.
I should have my new engine fitted in about a months time so hope to improve at the next event.
