CHIM - BEST COLOUR COMBO
Discussion
Hi,
Still looking for a Chim 400 / 450 ( with power steering ) with decent budget, was after a silver with blue leather, maybe black interior, but have noticed on several threads that silver seems to be deemed as boring ?, my second choice is blue with dark interior.
So, what is the best all round colour combo ?, taking into account resale value, thats waht puts me off yellow
Opinions please.

Yellow with a red interior, obviously.

Edit: Seriously though, why would you want a TVR in silver with boring blue or black interior, leave those to the Germans. I freely admit that mine isn't to the taste of most people but there are plenty of interesting combinations that are still tasteful.

I wouldn't give 2 hoots about the colour combo as long as I liked it. personally id LOVE a yellow chim with a black interior with yellow detailing. I know I would rather have a colour combo I like rather than having one that I don't like because it might be easier to sell if I ever do it (which if you don't like it will probably sooner rather than later.)
Surely it's down to your taste as well though...I'd like to find a metallic blue or red 450, 500 style wheels if possible and with a magnolia interior when I start looking. I've seen some silver ones in the classifieds and think they look good especially with darker wheels, though wasn't so sure about a rather bright red interior that some of the silver/grey ones have.
I suppose it's a loud car, so maybe the idea that having it in a plain colour doesn't 'fit' but at least silver would blend in with the more day to day cars if you don't want to stand out too much.

As I was elluding to above, not everyone wants to go out driving the automotive equivalent of a neon sign saying 'look at me'.
For some it's just about the sound, feel and driving the car, so a subtle (or dull if you prefer) colour doesn't draw the attention. However, it turns out that a good friend of mine has expressed a liking for a metallic orange car and I had to confess that I could be tempted if such a TVR turned up when I'm looking...then we concluded it must be a midlife crisis thing.

Whilst looking my wife concluded that bright orange or yellow could be deemed as a mid life crisis, I think the Chim looks great in silver, just like the Aston DB6 !!!
Thankfully for me that would mean my mid life was 11
Frog, Id take the orange but redo the interior, but thats just me, currently have blue with blue and magnolia which is nice dont get me wrong but its abit too hmmmm common? popular? for me? I like something different, hence having a TVROldSkoolRS said:

Oh I can appreciate that, and that's certainly not the reason I have mine, it just so happened that it was a decent car and that's the colour it was in. I wouldn't have chosen that combo had I ordered it from the factory myself, but it certainly brightens up any dull day and I don't really care if people think I'm a tit.
I think my original point was that there are so many tasteful combinations out there that don't scream 'look at me' that it seems a bit of a waste (IMO) to go for the safe options. For what it's worth, my choices would either be Highland Pearl with a red interior, Rolex Blue with a cream interior or orange with a black interior with orange stitching.

I wanted blue with cream interior but found this instead and actually rather like the grey now.
Yes, I've noticed a few with grey interiors in the classifieds. I think it would grow on me too. In truth I suspect that unless a car has a really OTT interior that puts me off, I'll buy it more based on spec and condition. Then beauty will be in the eye of the beholder and all that anyway. Funny I was reading a thread on VX220 org about silver cars and opinion is split there too. Apparently silver ones tend to be cheaper, not sure if this also applies to TVRs though.
Surely you buy what you like; resale might be an issue with some colour combinations, but that is often reflected in the purchase price (assuming not new, in which case it will probably cost more. Personally, many of the 'flip-flop' colours wouldn't be my first choice, but accept that many love them. Still, if we all liked the same thing, they wouldn't need to offer different colours - would make finding your Fiesta in the carpark a bit more difficult though.
Times/tastes change, there was a time when it seemed that most E-Types were red, now many of the earlier colours are making a comeback (ie green, opalescent blue etc.)
However, it is generally agreed that the green TVRs are the best

Silver with Black or dark Blue is my fave, like this.
