Oil topping up
Discussion
Nope - mine never needs a drop. I check all of the bleedin time but never seems to need anything. After 6000 miles (Ok not all of it high speed I will have to add) and it had only dropped by a small (and I mean small) amount. Obviously then a service and fine....
Depends on the engine, but also on driving style. For some reason my Citroen 1.9TD burns no oil either. And thats a desisal too... you expect it on them.
Seems a lot of oil - doubt it is anything to worry about though.
Cheers,
Paul

Ginga - mine is the same possibly even more - think some are oil burners some aren't but also to do with driving styles. But it is a pain having to check it knowing that you will ahve to put a litre or two in every 1000 miles - I drive mine alot. 6k miles since dec - service just keep coming!
This has been done to death before so a quick search will dig up far more technical answers I'm sure but if it is 4 litre then generally not a drop and if 5 litre engine then anything between 600 and 1500 miles a litre - see steve heath's bible. I certainly experienced just that on my 5 litre. Dave.
Had my griffith500 3mnths now and done 1200miles and also only had to add about 1/4 of a litre.
On my S3 it was the even better, hardly ever had to top it up between services.
Just the characteristics of certain engines and how iys been driven.
Obviously Track days and hard driving/Long journeys and you will burn more.
Its still worth a weekly check though.
