Hey There Ed, welcome.

now then, what was your question? oh yes

A: the archives?
sorry - it's a very common question.
10k should get you in a mechanically true, documented car, anywhere from the first ones through to about facelift ( P? ) privately, depending on miles/condition. expect some stone chips and 60 - 80k for that money. don't worry - the stone chips won't make it any slower
get it checked over by somone who knows their way around. AA/RAC etc. will not do.
if it's a daily driver and you're not doing the work yourself budget a lot for servicing - every 6k miles you see?
good luck!

Best original advice that I can offer is to learn to use the "Search" facility shown in the navigation bar at the top of this page.

All of the questions that you want to ask have been asked before and are well documented. There is a wealth of information available for you to absorb.

Thanks for the replies. I have already spent some time looking through some of the topics on here. Looks like that main thing that goes is the 100amp fuse wires from the alternator to the bat.

I am pretty mechanically minded so would look to undertake most of the work myself which will hopefully drive some of the cost down.

Certainly some nice looking ones about in the Classifieds, just need to shift my V6 Mondeo and then it'll be time to take the 2 extra cylinders on

is that the one from the classifieds.... ..if so.. Bugger! I've been trying to get hold of him for days.

All the best with it.

Cheers
