Not the most important thing to stop working but in the winter it,s vital! I can't find a specific fuse so maybe someone might know where the power comes from in a 97 car. I also assume that the speed control is done via some electronic gubbins or maybe the switch is faulty.

Any help gratefully received.

This MAY be of some use, but read the 'disclaimer' first.

Same problem here, I mentioned this to my indie who told me the common fault is the until (switch/pot?) under the dash, the one place I don't like to go so I'm having him investigate next week when he does the MOT.

From comments I have seen on here, fuse/relay location can be ......err ....sometimes quite different across cars.

When you lift the dash, there is a power connector on the unit. The live feed is known to burn out over time. There is a thread somewhere about how to fix it; you essentially bypass it with wire directly onto the circuit-board. Fortunately there is a convenient hole to allow the wire into the box. I cannot remember where I saw it but I copied it and it worked for me.

I have an early car with the three speed switch from a Vauxhall. Mine kept blowing fuse. I replaced the wiring with a direct fused feed to battery. It still blew even when I upped the fuse rating. I removed the fan unit (bit of a ball ache and lots of violence required!) cleaned and greased up motor. All seemed fine. Refitted/glued sealant back in and it worked for another week and stopped again.

That was months ago, I keep putting off taking it out again., might get at it today having been reminded by this post smile

There is not all that much info on removing the fan so, cart before horse, but feel free to give me a shout if you get to this point.

When I last checked none of the TVR parts places had stock of the blower motor. From pictures only it looks like it may be off an Astra maybe MK3. I would be interested if anyone knows for sure.
