Yesterday, drove 14 miles out of my way so I could go through the Monmouth tunnels (both ways) at a cost of £ 4.40 in fuel. Well worth every penny ears.

I'd happily do the same. I'm taking a very indirect route to a friends house near Ascot next month just so I can go through the new Hindhead tunnel on the A3. Over a mile underground at the national speed limit!!

I hope you did the Brynglas tunnels in between too.
Monmouth to the Coldra, M4 for 2 junctions, roundabout at Malpas Road then back through Brynglas tunnels back to Coldra and up A449 through Monmouth tunnels again.
I have the added bonus of having to drive from Monmouth back to Caerleon via the Usk lanes too driving

Ah! I do miss going for a blast around South Wales. Brecon run is superb!

Living up here in Aberdeen, Chim 500 nearly back on the road (Engine rebuild) so looking forward to some lovely Scottish runs soon!

Is the Hindhead tunnel fully open yet? I'd heard that it had a 40-limit initially; has it gone up to its full NSL now?

It opens tomorrow. I too thought that it would be 40 limit but a bit of googling suggest that it will be national except in times of incident.

Don't forget about the average speed cameras though.

Cool. If they were to do a traffic census in the tunnel in the first week or two, I bet they'd find a disproportionate number of V8-powered cars!

We only have one short tunnel here but my god does it sound bloody amazing every time I nail it (I meant gently tickle officer) through the tunnel, I can only do that when its clear though otherwise I can't get enough revs up before I'm out the other side. Never fails to make me smile though thumbup
