Recently had the steering box refurbed as it needed doing, thought this would cure it but alas, the steering still stays where you point it. Feels weird to drive like that. Is there anything else I should be looking at?

You mean rack.

How long has it been like that?

What's changed?

One would hope you have also changed the two universal joints on the steering column??

It would be churlish to spoil the refurbed rack to find the uj's were on-their-way-out??

I did mean rack, heads full of other cars as well at the mo!
Just spoke to one of the other guys that shares the car and it all started after it failed its mot on the steering UJ. So will investigate that, apparently it could also be alignment?

Normally the steering is returned to centre by castor action which is created by the shims in the top balljoint. If you have not altered this then I guess something is seizing in the u/js or the rack itself. Suggest you jack it up and feel how free,or not, steering feels.

Your geo is out or you need to pop your steering wheel off and centre it.
