Hi, as a new owner to what I believe to be a good TVR Chimaera 4.0, today the oil gauge went to 90 degrees during a 10 min warm up run out. After stopping for a few minutes and restarting the car a few times there was no improvement with the gauge staying at 90.

It did drop back down to it's normal temp of 35 degrees for a couple of seconds when I went over a bump. What does this suggest?

I am a novice to tvr's so any advice greatly appreciated.

Don't you mean PSI?... sounds like your sender has gone to me if a bump is changing it?.. just take care it's not a sticking reliefe valve.

If its showing 90 its going to earth (not a loose spade) so I'd say its naffed....

Have a look here :- http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Hi mate, What year is your Chimaera and did you notice if the needle on the gauge went straight to the 90psi mark as soon as you turned on the ignition. I had that problem with mine and it turned out NOT to be the sender as I had 3 different senders used for fault diagnosis, it was the gauge that was at fault.

OK.. see which end the faults at...

Turn on... goes to 90

Pull off the wire at the sender?.. .If it goes to zero its the sender...
If it stays at 90 its the gauge...

My money is on the sender!!
