Ok, you may have seen my previous posts, 5ltr engine, H404, Mega Squirt, won't pass MOT. It passed last year! this year Rob helped my with the ACT tripple and a map that would make it drive like a pussy on a cruise and a deamon on the track.

I took the car to MOT and it failed, badly. Hours and days of effort later, and posts and phone calls....

So, Today I spent a few hour at an MOT station< I tried 4 maps and one finally f***ing passed MOT, legit!

I just wanted to thank a few people:

Derek Smith for getting me in touch with Nige, a major talent and he taught me so much, I still owe him but he won't take my money because we didn't achieve pass on the day. Nige, I still have a bottle of the finest for you for your help.

Biper for getting me in touch with SteveD in Fareham, super guy and great contact moving forward, Biper, Steve was revving your car when I called him... sounded nice!

All of you for urging me to get connected an do some mapping myself, FYI if you're laptop doesn't have a serial port buy a FTDI USB to serial adapter from Tronisoft, works perfect.

Phil, of course, from EXTRA EFI, Mega Squirt Guru, who helped me set up and understand how simple it is and the basics of programming, and one of the few people who stuck with me through thick and thin.

Rob Robertson, well, what can I say, he built me an awesome engine, and today helped me tweak the map (and Phil too) and I have to say, Rob has always been there for me, even when I cursed him and stomped my feet, because he didn't send me my build sheet or whatever, still he stuck with it.

I did the final map myself (hey, I only tweaked it with the help from the above people) and amazing thing is it drives pretty good too! For insurance purposes I can tell you I will never change this map ;-) but for track I have already used Tuner Studio to create a more friendly map, I started out very intimaidated about all this remapping stuff, now, if you want some help, I'm..... ok pretty crap but know the people to help!

Tx

I meant to mention David Batty, who lent me his garage and his gas analyer for the best part of a day, and DON'T EVEN think of asking him to do that for you, we all know David is a busy and talented guy (if a bit fussy, maybe perfectionist is a better word ;-) Thank you David and Daren.

Interesting stuff - I may be in touch for some of those contacts having gone down the MS route myself! Are you going to fit a wideband sensor ? If so, which one ?

I am just glad you are off my ass for a while now it has passed, and dont faint but i am having the next few days off to catch up with paper work!, I know you thanked phil from megasquirt for his help, and i will be honest this is one of the reasons why we do megasquirt, i am not going to say it better than any other after market ecu out there but you are guaranteed help almost 24-7. And it is more than cappable of running the rover engine, plus now the ms3 is out there what more would you need.

Rob, you are my hero, I drove the car for several hours around Hampshire and that engine is obscene! I'll be off your ass, thank you, but can you please send me the old map? I'm still a learner tuner ;-)

Kenny, will send you details of WB lambda I'm thinking of buying and details of fitting, yes, at this point I think I'll do it, Rob says it's not necessary and I think he's right, unless you want to do more tuning yourself and you don't have a RR or gas analyser handy

I am joining the ranks very soon.
I have the kit and the car is going to Bailey performance to get wired and mapped next week.
It will be ready to pick up on the 27th so i will let you know how it is.
I too will be calling on those experienced as i fine tune settings for the road and strip.
I should have James Murray close by on occasion if i can get him to spare some time.

Could you let me know how you get on with Bailey, they're probably the closest folks to me with decent Megaquirt experience.

Iain

I know of 2 on here that have had their cars mapped there.
Maybe they will step forward and comment.

Another thumbs up for Dale at Bailey motorsport. Patient, understanding, knowledgable, approachable and reasonable on price too.
Could do with a kettle though. hehe

I think dale is fine , i have never met him but an engine i built that was mapped at jooz made 380bhp, it was then re mapped at dales with a new ecu so nother to go from joo made the same within 1 or 2 hp.
