Sorry if this has been covered loads of times but search isn't working and Iam going away in the chim tommorrow!
Basically spent the day sorting out a few bits, one thing was the pipe to the expansion bottle was blocked so removed the expansion bottle and pipe plugged the swirl pot so I didn't loose to much coolant. Ive unblocked it all bled the rad, swirl pot,etc but the swirl pot level keeps going down slightly. Before I messed today I did always find the swirl pot a little bit low and use to top it up whenever Ive went out in it. Ive not let it cool down properly yet so Iam going to re-check it in the morning when stone cold but just wondered the bible says to fill it to top of the threads but mine always seems to be about 15mm below the threads??? Not sure if Iam worrying about nothing but I seem to check a lot more on this one than my last 450 which I spent twice as much to buy!

P.S I'd love to meet whoever designed the door card fixings! What a complete pig to get to the rear most nut, thought I'll just wip it off to repair the window that was making a clunking noise and really slow, then found I couldn't get my arm far enough into the doorconfused Ended up getting a small friend to come round and he squeezed his little arms in!biggrin

With the engine not running but still hot can you hear a hissing from the cap?, might be worth checking that its not leaking, if it is try taking the seal out greasing it slightly then putting it back in upside down. Worked on mine.
Could be the cause of the slight level drop.
If its still leaking i'm sure new caps are relatively cheap.

In my experience, most cars will spit out a bit of water until they settle at the right level. Don't worry if it's a bit above or below the "correct" level, just keep an eye on it and if all the water disappears completely then look into it.

I let it cool down on the drive and bled/topped it all up again, just took it for a blast and heater is working, temp seems ok (although ive just noticed temp gauge illumination is broke!rolleyes) I'll re-check it in the morning from stone cold. I wouldn't be too worried if it was the expansion tank but wasn't sure as its the swirl pot so thought it should always be full, plus its made worse by the fact I said I wanted to go away in the TVR when the missus would prefer the Diesel Skoda. Thing is with it being the highest point surely any air will always trap there???
