Hi all, it's been a while since i posted much, but since we now have two highly modified lotus's in addition to the TVR there is not much time left for the Chimaera. Add to this the unfortunate problem that the crank has fractured, I have decided to break the car for parts. It's taken 6 months to make this decision, but being also a CatD the resale value is now too low. cry

I seldom get on here to read through whats going on in the TVR world, so its a sad farewell to all those that i have chatted to and known on here in the past. wavey

Thanks, Jon

p.s I know i will be back with a plasticman project one day sooooon!

Feck me jon (for want of another expression) what a dam shame to break that car!

This is the sad case of when a cat D car conjures up the image of a bodged crash repair. With in a lot of cases more upgrading and repairs are actually carried out and that car then becomes a bargain.

I know you were contemplating breaking it before but that was when the engine was sound, is it not worth repairing the engine and selling as a whole?

What a pita!

I have just aquired a 5.0 that I am building with the good bits, now, after your bad luck and other documented crank snapping, I'll be crapping myself when I'm giving it the beans!

I'm glad you are undoubtably enjoying the Loti.

Good luck and let me have 1st dibbs on the seats if the worst happens, (did I say that).

Hello Jon.
Always enjoyed your 'spirited' run-ins and our occasional duels hehe.
Never been the same since you haven't been around mate.

All the best to you & Lisa. Good luck with the Chim - I'll be sad to see her go, so you must be devastated!
Cheers buddy,
Mick

This is a sad farewell and a bit of advice along the lines of if you spend a lot on a car, you will never see a sensible return, even more so on a cat D.

Please leave it on as it is a useful reminder to us all.

Will have to organise another Lotus/TVR meet in the Herts/Beds/Essex region again to catch up with many of you guys!!

Daz, i recon the car in bits is worth double. I did put up a long post on how this breaks down but the mods removed it. This i dont get because the advertising is free on PistonHeads in the classifieds and it is in everyones interest to know what parts are available?? I'm used to the lotus forum SELOC which is so much better in this respect... Rant over...

Just put the info in an ad & link to it Jon? It's always the same with modded cars really, unfortunately when it comes to buying a complete car folks perspectives seem a bit warped, want something for nothing & yet they still spend 1000's afterwards???? A new crank can't be that much of a hassle ~ certainly be a lot easier to get fixed than a wonky chassis?

Noticed you don`t have a Email option on your profile ..If you do break it im very interested in the roll bar..

Funny thing is most of the Chimaera owners run there car standard for a while then decide to throw thousands on engine and suspension upgrades when they have a perfectly good running engine ..Someone could buy yours fully sorted and then decide how far to go with the engine ...makes sense
