Front Tyres Move Sizes to 225?

I'm in the process of changing my front tyres & wondered if anyone had any experiences to share when changing sizes to 225?
My current 500 with P/S has original spec 215/50/15 Bridgstones at the front i've always been happy with, no nasty understeer or lack of grip when required. I am happy with 50 profile but not sure whether to go for wider 225's over the stnd 215's for which there is a wider choice of brands specs etc.
Would a move to wider be a disadvantage at the front end ie lift/ steering weight etc or more of a benefit ie more grip. I realise its not a huge leap but the set up at present i'm very happy with but then choices are low. Not interested in aftermarket sizes either.
