FAO anyone thats overheating!!

I maybe stating the obvious here, but just passing on a bit of knowledge for anyone that wants it.
A couple of weeks ago, I noticed the motor was overheating a fair amount in London traffic, and the temp seemed to be raising quicker than normal.
I knew there was the right amount of water in the expansion tank ('95 serp engine BTW), but the top of the radiator was only luke warm. I undid the radiator bleed nut, and topped up the raditor via the swirl pot until both were full. It took a fair amount. About 3-4litres, but I have got a bit of a leak at the moment.
Also found a dodgy connection on one of the fan connectors and only one had been working.
As soon as this was done, temp hasn't raised about 89ish since.
Basically just a reminder that the expansion tank has no relevance to the amount of water in the system.
I'm sure all this is in the bible, but it seems kinda relevant considering the weather outside!!
