Im going to attempt to move the Battery in the boot in winter..sick of the mess behind the foot panel and the lack of leg room..

What size cables do i need and fittings connectors etc .
once i get the cables to behind the seat what route do i take.
What are the two brown live cables for because they will need extending

Last question I have noticed the far top right relay is always warm even with the ignition off ,is this normal..and what is this relay for

i have got to say TVR could of done a far better job with the wiring around the battery area ..looks a complete mess.!

Even with the petite blonde you still have the problem getting to the fuses relays etc..

Those petite blonde`s are more maintenance than a TVR laugh

What about the warm relay even with the ignition off !

Think you have to way up how often your in there Daz scratchchin can honesty say I have never once had to go near the fuse box for either relay of fuse blowing problems in over 5 years of ownership I also see a few at work and them neither(but they are good one's) I think problems in that area only develop when you have damp interiors/water leaks and things like dying rad fans causing overheating relays etc confused just my cents worth whistle

Daz

I had a chat with Carl Baker about this when he fitted my alarm. He pretty much put me off moving the fuse box behind the seat, but suggested that I just move the battery itself to the boot. It would still give you an additional 8 inches or so of leg room and you don't run the risk of damaging any of the wires running in / out of the fuse box. As the wiring of my car is old (Carl also said that although factory fitted, the wiring was very different to what he had seen in other Chims) I really do not want to run the risk...

I think it is something I will do, but it is low down on the list.

I certainly have an 'odd' Chim - Serp engine with the earlier gearbox on a L (93) plate...

Hope this helps.

Daz, as you are into your track days i thought it was not recommended to put the battery in the boot. Could you therefore not fit a small slimline battery behind the drivers seat. Fuses passenger side, battery drivers. You get your leg room and is a bit further away from the tank should the unthinkable happen.

From memory these are the main battery feed to the fusebox, so yup these will need extending as well as the main positive lead to the starter motor,
My original post covers most of what you need to know..
