I would say a typical price would be somewhere between £10k - £12k, assuming there's nothing wrong with it. But you'll also see dealers asking more than that - in some cases, a lot more!

There are too many variables to put an accurate value on a car without seeing it. If you're keen on the car, get it inspected (e.g. Rob Ingleby), and you'll get a detailed report including a valuation.

nearer £10k i think

Reasoning :

in late may (season peak) i bought my Chim 500, 98S full facelift, 1 former keeper (so I'm 3rd), 26000 miles, FSH annual stamp, imperial blue, all original, good to excellent condition, trade sale - £14350.

It appears the market has softened, if only temporarily til spring '12. And I think I paid too much... The mistakes I made were firstly being ruled by impatience (wanted one NOW) and being swayed by Fernhurst's prices. I would suggest (and not knocking them for it - it's good business sense) that their philosophy is to own as much of the market stock as poss in order to control supply and therefore prices. At the time of my purchase they had almost identical chims at £20k and £21k and equivalent griffs at £30k, making my chim at £15k asking price seem cheap.

500 premium - say £1500 ?
significant mileage premium - say £2000 ? (yours is double the miles)
lower owners premium - say £250 ?
wool carpets, heated seats - say £250 ?

that's how I come to £10k or thereabouts.

ETA - and however excellent you think it is, there will be stuff to do, even if the chassis is good.

In my case the wipers packed up, the tacho was faulty, rear dampers shot, rear upper bushes missing, cam sprocket was at point of failing (only found out by chance), serpentine belt was driving the water pump in reverse, the sump oil pickup was clogged (found out by chance), rear discs were shot, drivers window needed adjusting, targa seals needed fixing and so on.

Not trying to put you off at all, but reckon that you should have in mind spending another £2500k minimum to properly straighten it out, much more if you want to make improvements over the standard spec.

so that adds up then...

i hesitated suggesting less than £10k to the OP as below that level prices begin to feel upward pressure from the "floor" value of say £7000k for anything "proper" with history, bearing in mind his is a later proposition, low owners, FSH, apparently VGC+. Yes - there will be exceptions, before I get shot down, I'm painting a broad picture !

In the last 3 or 4 months the cheapest 450 I have seen advertised was £6995 but most seem to be advertised between £9 and 10 thousand. A lot have been hanging about for a while though and I suspect the ones that are selling are going for less than asking price

Speaking from experience, however good it looks and feels, there will be loads to do once you start poking around.

I wouldn't buy at that mileage without detailed invoices proving extensive works.

If you're not desperate for that particular car, guessing it's up at £9995, assume it owes the trader £7k ish and bid him £8k. I wouldn't sweat it if he says no, there'll be another.
