Indicators won't self cancel

Funnily enough I had the same problem and sorted it out yesterday! The alignment of the cancelling ring was the issue in my case. I took the steering wheel off (mine needed a three legged puller) and pushed the boss back on with the ring pointing at the indicator arm. In my case the wheel was then out of alignmnet so I had to remove it from the boss and re-position it. It's working prefectly now so no more embarassing flashing!

I have a 38 year old car with self-cancelling indicators.
