Can I just stick a air line down the return pipe when disconnected off the fuel rail and fuel tank cap off?

I just want to make sure its not blocked up/squashed

You can, but if it is blocked, then what is blocking it will end up in the tank?

What makes you think it is blocked/squashed? Is it because of the rich running?

Would be worth lifting the tank forward first and disconnecting the pipe, then test from engine bay.

The return line feed to the back of the tank, on the offside, to complete your test, it would be better with and both ends open.
So, undo the top tank strap nuts, and the filler spout, lift the tank forward slightly, and undo the return tank from its connection.
Then when you test, it will not affect the tank.

I see what your saying, and yes it makes sense,

But I don't really want to disturb the paint on the filler neck, as I looks very glued down at the moment

Thanks for the tips guys

Managed to disconnect the return without moving the tank..I found this ..squashed just below the rear bottom wishbone. You can disconnect the hose from the copper line behind the near side rear wheel..

Alex, trim around the neck with a blade and remove the filler.
If all OK, reseal back down with clear silicon, apop!

You still off work, if so I am taking a day off for a bit of engine building, I'll show ya.
