Iam confused 60/55/50 profile
Discussion
My Chim could really do with 4 new tyres I have SO2 on the rear and SO3 on the front, problem is Iam not sure what size front tyres to look for! At the minute I have 205 50 R15 W, my car is a 1995 4 ltr without PAS. In the Bible is states that size is for non pas 500 1996 on, 400 should be 205 60 15 for 1993 and 1996 on is 205 55 15. My original owners manual also states 205 60 15 but then wrote in pen is 205 50 15. I know that if I change to one of the others the profile of the tyre will be bigger but Iam not sure how this will affect the car to drive??? I do plan to have a Geo check once Ive changed all 4 tyres so assume it would be set up to suit what ever tyres I fit. The rear just seems to be stick with 225 50 16.
Iam sorry if this has been covered before but have searched and cant find anything thats really relevant, I just dont want to buy the wrong ones and then be told that the car would have been transformed if I'd bought one of the other sizes instead!
Any advice or thoughts appreciated
Mike

Thanks for the replys, Iam not being funny but I dont understand how the chart helps??? Iam interested to know how changing the profile to 55 or 60 is going to effect the way the car drives in comparison to the 50 profile I have now???
Problem is this is the only non pas TVR Ive driven and been years since I had my 450 with Pas so dont know if it could/should ride or drive better or not.

Fronts with power steering 225/45/16 no steering stops needed on mine..
Falken 452`s are a good all round tyre and a good price..

I would go 55, helps with bump steer etc and keeps the wall heights about the same front and rear and you get that nice 1" differnce front to rear to match the wheels..Problem is this is the only non pas TVR Ive driven and been years since I had my 450 with Pas so dont know if it could/should ride or drive better or not.
Wall height front 4.44" diameter 23.88"
wall height rear 4.43" diameter 24.86"
There is your 1" difference and matching wall heights ..
non power steering 205/55/15 but i used that size for my car which has power steering.
or a close size to the 205 is 225/50/15 it`s up to you
55% of 205 diameter 606.5mm
50% of 225 diameter 606 mm

Just try and match the the 606 diameter by going on a tyre calculator .My car as power steering , 205`s were fine .
225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 is a nice combination
Thats a little awkward when i have 15 on front225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 is a nice combination

From New mine came with 205/55ZR15 front and 225/50 ZR16 rear. However, my friends who's is older came with 205/60 ZR15 fronts.
So I guess it would depend on the age of the car if you wanted to dertermine what it should have fitted.
NB that cars that had the 205/60s on the front had 225/55s at the rear so that the rake of the car remained the same. (Did the speedo change though?)So I guess it would depend on the age of the car if you wanted to dertermine what it should have fitted.

This is a great calculator
