Sorry if this is a repeated subject but at some point in the future I would like to have my chim remaped. I am struggling to find information on this through the search options. My chim is a 400 and has had a new cam, if I have a remap should I consider changing or replacing any other parts? What gains can I expect, smoother running more responsive, improved mpg? And do you guys have any recommendations on where to take the car for the work?
Thank you
Zach
Thank you

The gains are pretty small, the TVR map is not that bad to start with. It might improve the slow speed a bit but you are looking at £400 for a chip, that could go towards some nice inlet stuff if the car runs OK at the moment.

Indeed Mark Adams is the fella. He's a Rover V8 guru with years of experience and the necessary kit to read/write the chip.
He could be hard to get hold of as he is a very busy man (although I've managed to get through to him twice with no problems)
In the interests of fairness there is at least one other place that I know can do it and that's Austec near Gatwick.
I believe Mark will try to acomodate you at a rolling road near you (provided they have the right kit there so not sure if any old one will do) whereas you'll have to take the car down to Austec.
If you've only changed the cam for a standard one then you'll not *need* to get it remapped however each Rover V8 is different and you may find some horses can be liberated with a remap in standard trim.
My advice is hold on for now and make some upgrades to the induction system and drive the thing!! Then when the current cam gets worn, replace it with a spicier one and then get it remapped as unfortunately (and speaking as a standard 400 owner) the 400's just aren't that fast and you soon look for a bit more welly!!!

There`s one on Classifieds ..you could send the chip to Mark Adams tell him the engine spec and i think its about £25(was when i had it re programmed) to have it programmed in to the chip..Other than that its along wait to see him or your other options are Plug and play Megasquirt(fuel only) or go all the way...
