Finally seeing some progress on my mini-rebuild. The engine is due soon and in the meantime I've stripped the chassis tubes in the engine and given them a new coat of paint (well, actually several). I reckon the result looks quite good.

Unfortunately, at some point I've managed to crack the bonnet (probably while taking it off for the engine removal, I never noticed a crack there before). Can anyone suggest how I'd go about repairing a crack like this?

I'm guessing it'd have to be reinforced, filled and then touched up? Fortunately my dad is relatively experienced with fibreglass and I know a good paint shop, but I'm wondering how would be best to reinforce it?

Not sure about reinforcing it, just make sure youdrill a hole at the top the crack to stop it spreading.

Certainly agree with drilling a hole at each end of the split to arrest any further cracking.

I'm no expert, but I would have thought some wide glass tape resined-in on the underside as reinforcement and then, I believe you can get chopped glass and resin mixture to build up the crack (having Veed it out first). There was an article in the TVR club mag this month about inserting a panel into a Vixen roof.
Just my thoughts.

Thanks gents. Will see if I can pluck up the courage to drill a hole. It may be some time after the mechanical rebuild finishes that I actually get round to doing the respray, but I guess a hole preventing any further damage is better than leaving it as it is.

May be just a previous repair gone bad, they are vulnerable to attack in that area scratchchin you can search online on how to carry out a suitable repair on fibre glass easily enough + the other posts yes as that's a straight colour too if your careful enough you can blow that in making an almost invisible repair smile
