Imatriculation chimaera 500 en France
Discussion

Nearly got it with my crap french, anyway on line translation is:
Hi all
Let me ask you because I acquired a chim 5 L of 1995 but I have problems with the service of the French mines.
Is that owners of 5 L have a number starting with E11... on a plate Builder?
If this is the case, it is a released 1997 European type approval number!
In addition, my interlocutor to the DREAL proposed me to a derogation if I could provide him with a case of 5 L French plate with an earlier number and post to my own number in the series.
Thank you all for your help

Salu,
A bientot

Hi ninelevent,
I registered my Chim 450 last year in France and yes it was a ‘pain in the ass’ or PITA with the DREAL and the prefecture. If you do not have an E11* on the ID code of the car you are a little buggered.. you can see from my car I have the E11* that was all the DREAL were looking for to complete the paper work for them if there is no E11 then they believe the car is not fit for European roads and you have to have the car tested and that will cost thousands…
Even with the E11* presented on the photo they were not very willing to complete the paper work because the car was not from a main stream dealer.
Good luck

Bon après-midi mes chers amis !

What's the year of your chimaera?
I have told our french friend in a PM, that also in Germany it is impossible to road register a car without the E11 numbers. On my Previous TVR this was a simple selfadhesive sticker in silver colour on the inner wing underneath the bonnet. In case of a respray or spilling of brakefluid this sticker will come undone and was probaly removed by a previous owner.
I simply copied this sticker with the necessary numbers as a word document and printed it on a special "paper" available from Avery Dennison in any good paper shop.
Printout, cutout and stick to your car, no more questions!
What surprised me with the German MOT was that they were more concerned about this b*****y sticker and possible exhaust emmisions that about the state of the chassis/ outriggers, brakelines etc.
Must have to do with b*****y Brussels
