Hi i drove my '93 chim earlier today for about 1 hour. I have just lifted the bonnet (3 hours after I turned car off) and the engine is still very warm. Not red hot but you could not leave your hand on the plenum for more than about 3 - 5 seconds. Car is parked in a very large garage. Does this sound right to you lot?

Don't think I've left mine for more than 3 hours without driving it???

TBH I wouldn't be surprised, the heat generated under there on days like this is horrific, also the GRP being such a good insulator will have the effect of keeping things nice and hot.

Not a problem - our Chimaera is housed in a single garage and it amazes me how the garage becomes a "hot house" for ages after parking up

GRP doesnt conduct heat like steel, hence the need for bonnet vents. Thus the heat won't be able to escape - bit like leaving the oven door closed.

If I pull into the garage after a bit of a drive on a hot day I leave the bonnet up for everything to cool down quicker. No need to cook everything under there just for the sake of it.

Thanks again guys, you have set my mind at rest. I knew GRP was a great insulater but that takes the piss. These cars never cease to amaze me, I have nearly sold it 3 times now, but every time I drive it (and nothing goes wrong) I can't help love it again.
