Retro fitting power steering

Hello chaps,
Just doing a bit of research here...
Still looking at Chimaera's and if I were to buy an early non PAS car I'd like to look into fitting it as my better half will probably struggle otherwise. So, my questions are:
1) With a non serp engine, can I fit a PAS rack from a later Griff or Chimp and then use an SD1 mechanical pump?
2) If the above is true, what's better, the earlier SD1 pump or the later type with the fluid reservoir built in? (I would guess the latter)
3) With a non serp engine am I better off using an electric pump?
4) With a serp engine is it a case of bolting on the new bits from the donor car, pump etc?
5) Any guesses on how much a second hand PAS rack costs?
Finally, I'm a pretty competent mechanic and have changes numerous racks in the past, is there anything I need to watch out for with the Chimaera?

It costs around 1500-2000 with new bits. PAS rack is around £650 new. S/H ones do come up but you will need to get all the column shafts and UJs as well. Most scrapped cars have taken out the rack in the first place. Budget around £700-800 for bits and you are not far off.
Pump is whatever fits your engine.
To be honest, better to get a car with it already fitted.
