Evening all,
Where would people recommend for PAS rack overhaul please?
I remember seeing somewhere in Birmingham recommended, but the site search facility is down at the moment.

Cheers,

Ged

Ah, that's what I did, bought a rack with too much play and it was all downhill from there, now on my 4th rack and 8th or 9th rack swap after about 3 overhauls and a few returns!!!!!!!!!!!

Some say Kielly Clinton.

Just packed my rack up to send to Kiley Clinton in the morning - leaking into the n/s gaiter.

Dom, I've PM'd you too.

Rob.

Rob,
How much have Kiley Clinton quoted you for your rack work?

Have they told you what they actually intend to do the rack as well? i.e. are they just going to cure the leak or are they quoting for a rack refurb?

If you could let me know it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ged

Quote from Kiley Clinton is £200 + VAT. This is for a "remanufacture" of your own rack - they have no core stock for TVR. Turnaround approx 3 days.

Their website home page has some bullet point as to what's involved and Roger from KC confirmed that included in the cost is a bush modification that improves potential scoring of the rack bar. There's a thread on here somewhere that explains this mod, with pics.

Don't know why they state "remanufacture" as they have no new parts exept seals which are pretty universal.

They returned my rack without repairing it as they couldn't!

Hope your not going to use ............. direct in Yorkshire, mine went back three times and every time the off side gaitor did a Mr Blobby, it was useing more fluid than Petrol.
Took me many arguments to get my money back .Good job the mechanic felt sorry for me or it would of cost be £££££ in labour charges.

I then sent it to Western power steering services and after examination they said

"we have cleaned and striped the unit down to find some of the seals were old and the internals have been damaged by something like grips"..

Don`t use a large company who referbs them by dummys on a production line ,make sure one person does the job from start to finish..

Touch wood had no problems to date

So what happens when your rack is unrepairable and there are no salvaged ones available? Is it possible to source one from another car and if not is it the mounting points on the chassis that are the problem?

There must be a rack out there that will fit, Clio? Polo? Etc once some one gets off there ass and takes a Tvr rack to a breakers to see what will work

We can all have racks for a grand total of £50!
