Its coming to time of year when I have to book the Chim in for its yearly service and Mot.
It normally goes to Matt @ Sebring.

I was looking through the receipts for everything that I have purchased for the car since I have owned it which is 4 years now.

I then realised how expensive it is to run these cars ,the amount I have spent this year since the last service is a bank account busting £5. That was for a heater valve that I have mentioned in a previous thread.

Oh and I did buy some Auto Glym polish and shampoo as well. I havent counted that though

Together with the little depreciation it has got to be the cheapest car I have ever owned.

I appreciate that others have not been so fortunate and I need to touch a bit of wood , but it does put it into perspective.

Anyone beat a fiver

Running costs for my old Chim (5 years) and current T350 (3 years) are detailed on my profile. Wish I could say £5 over a year though..... frown

Yep I can beat that,in 5 years of owing my Tuscan, in-between services I have spent £3.75 on a new exhaust bracket not bad I think for a car with 30'000 miles.

With my Ginetta G33 I sold it for 3 time the price I paid after 4 years. So taking into account a few small servicing costs the running cost was circa £-2500 per year smile

Tuscan costing a tad more than that, but shush don't tell the wife wink

Apart from bling, in over five years I've bought a new boot strut and a rear calliper.

That said that is still a calliper and boot strut more than I've bought for my Mondeo in the same period. But I'm happy.

I was reading a thread on the Cerbera S6 site and the topic was how much do you save per month and how much do you have is your slush fund. The average was £150-£250 per month and a slush fund of £2000.
Maybe we should start a thread on how little is your Chimaera fund and then post the results on the Cerby forum!
My budget is probably around £500 on top of insurance, MOT, fuel and servicing, and most of that has been for piece of mind cosmetic/replacement parts.

Hi Johno.

I normally do around 3K per year.

Just to add I will probably need some new tyres soon , and I do normally spend more than a fiver a year,

But it just proves that you dont necessary need to keep putting your hands in your pockets to fix things

You may spend money on upgrades etc but that is another matter.

Note, car has now done 37k and I have owned it for 4 years. I got it at 24k. The most it cost me in a single year was £1200 . But that was for a 12k service, balljoints and Gaz suspension which wasnt absolutely necessary.
