I have bought a new length of rubber seal to replace my existing item, but i just wanted to know the best way to persuade the seal around the sharper corners at the top of the windscreen.

I don't know if the original seals were formed to a shape, but with the seal you can buy now being a straight piece there needs to be a way to form the corners without the rubber puckering up when it goes round the corner!

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

I don't think there is a sure fire way. I'm having my screen replaced next week and they have some rubber but try to use the original because it is already formed to the shape over the years. My guess is to get it nice and warm.

If you are prepared to wait, I'll see if they replace mine and let you know how they did it?

OK so she is all done. There is no sure fire way of doing it, just patience, Sikkaflex and getting the seal warm so it is flexible.

They manipulated and warmed it once it was roughly in place then used Sikkaflex to hold in place, lots of masking tape to secure it, then let it go off for a minimum 2 hours. It took these guys several attempts to get it right and in some areas they had to trim the rubber behind to get a good fit.

Good luck with the job mate, I do lots of things on the car, but this is one I'd leave to the pro's I think.
