Hi.

I think I've located the source of the incessant whine - it's the fuel pump. I've been told as the noise is coming from the back of the car, it's the only thing it can be.
Anyone any idea how big a job replacing it might be? Approx. cost?

Was loving it in the sun today particularly drive home with top down, but with the top up early doors this morning, the whine is starting to piss me off.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Dave

Mine only does this when the tank is running very low, kind of useful as it reminds you that a fill up is getting urgent.

Just check its not your power steering pump - when hot mine whines like a real pig.

If it is the fuel pump its a half hour job to fit professionally or an hour yourself. Part ranges from ebay £40-50 aftermarket to £150-£200 for o/e type. Not a big job.

My advice would be to fit one with screw connectors for wiring and not the spade type which have a tendency to pull off as the pump is positioned quite low (as i found out on a Bank holiday Monday in France).
