Potential engine damage due to ethanol in fuel ?
Discussion
Moss Eurpoe have recently published information stating that the allowable ethanol in fuel is to be increased from 5% to 10%.
The article: http://uk.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?.rand=7dig...
states that ethanol can cause damage to all number of vehilce components but in particular vehicles that are over 10 years old (which includes most Chimaeras).
"First generation direct spark injection" engines are also mentioned. What classes as "first generation" and does "direct" mean engines that don't use coil packs ?
Is this something that we should be concerned about and if so what effects are we likely to see ?
