Gonna cost circa £1500 to be replaced
On the up side I should notice a nice increase in power
I would urge you to get it dynoed before you spend money on a new cam shaft.

At the last service at a very respected TVR specialist*, they said they thought my cam shaft might be a bit worn. I reasoned that even a highly respected specialist can sometimes be wrong when expressing a subjective opinion like this, so I went to Surrey Rolling Road and got it dynoed. The result: my 450 generated 276 bhp and 305 lb-ft with a nicely shaped curve. Charlie jumped out of the car and said, "nothing wrong with that cam" - in fact he suspected it may already have had a new cam at some point, and 276 bhp might imply a non-standard cam.
I still trust the opinions of the highly respected TVR specialist, and my car will shortly be going back there for another service. But I wouldn't take anybody's subjective opinion on something expensive like that without taking a more "scientific" view of it first. The £40 for the dyno run saved me £1500.
[*] I won't name them, except to say that my wife thought their name was a cricketing term rather than a reference to the number and layout of cylinders in an engine. Bless her!
