Hi all,

Just been looking into cleaning up the exhaust sections as I am currently having a full body off chassis restoration so thought it would be a good time to clean the engine and make is sparkle!!

Anyway I came across this...

And was wondering if he had just simply polished them or are they coated in anything to get to that level of shine as mine looks like the dull rusty exhausted in the "before" pics.

Looks like good old polish and plenty of elbow grease to me.

That would be ralphy12345 who is on this forum.
I knew I had see the 'oven shot' photos before. ('The Picture Thread' topic)

No doubt he will fill you in if prompted...

Indeed it is. ;-)

Here is the info I passed onto Dave (fusion1275)

I used abrasive flap wheels in an electric drill to remove the rust, starting off with a course grit and then moving onto a finer grit.

Then on the Y-piece I used a buffer mop with compounds.

Takes time - and is quite messy! - so outdoors or garage is the place to do it. Useful guide here: http://www.thepolishingshop.co.uk/acatalog/Polishi...

Hope that helps.
