Got my seat reinforcement brackets back from the powdercoaters yesterday. I made them myself and am pretty pleased with the results. They use the standard body fixing bolts so no extra holes to drill and is a million times better relying on the fibreglass floor to hold the seat in position.

Posted this in the General TVR stuff and Gossip forum yesterday but nobody was interested so thought i'd see what my fellow Chim owners thought.

Hi there,
Interesting work. So do these fit under the floor to spread the load of the seat and person across the floor in the event of heavy deceleration an accident ?

Yes but not just in an accident, any cornering or accelerating/braking forces put stress on the seat and therefore the seat mountings. The drivers seat fixings where completely f**cked on my car. the fibeglass had cracked and broken so badly that it was only a matter of time before the seat separated from the floor completely.
Poor design on Chims/Griffs which was rectified on Tuscans and later cars i believe.

They go under the floor not inside the car.

They look good. Could you post a pic of them once you fit them to the car, please?

Having taken my seats out last week I can't say the original design inspires confidence, so these look like they could be a big improvement. Shame my metalwork skills aren't quite up to your standard otherwise I would have had a go making some!

Looks good!

Nick at Willow Sportscars made something similar for me during my chassis refurb:
