Rear window's come away...
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
My rear window has come away from the stitching (it's the original on a 1998 R) so needs replacing and a new one stitching in I think. Had a quote for £199 inc for the repair (new plastic window), and another one £450 for a complete new rear hood. I'm in west sussex so was wondering if anyone new a repair shop fairly close that might be cheaper or is the £199 quote good value?
Cheers

My trimmer will fit a new Chimaera rear window for £170.00.
So you will save £30, but end up spending more than that on fuel getting to St Albans & back.
Personally I wouldn't replace just the rear part of the hood as it will never match the old targa panel.
Your options are replace the whole hood & rear window which can get pricey, or just pay the £200 notes and have the rear window replaced by your local guy.
I guess it all depends on funds, how fussy you are and the condition of your existing hood.
Only you can decide, just be warned if you replace the rear section but not the targa panel it will very likely look worse than if you had left it all alone.
