I’m just about to have some engine mods carried out at Peninsula and I wondered if anybody else has already done the same thing, and what difference in performance they found?

It’s a 4 litre chim and I’m having a gas flowed head, a 218 cam and a Tornado Chip fitted.

I've just had the brakes upgraded to 285mm drill and grooved fronts with 4 pot callipers, and the back discs also drilled and grooved, and whilst they were at it I had the shocks changed for Avo's and Poly bushes fitted. The car handles and stops a lot better than it did before.

just trouble

:mr pedantic head:surely it would be better if you got both of them done ?

By the by, does this involve losing the hydraulic tappits ? Getting this done to mine soon, and would be interested to know what difference it makes if your still talking to me that is !!!

hi slikk, losing the hudraulic tappets results in another £200-300 every service, AFAICS?

Thanks for that, Deeen, i assume thats due to the adjustment? Apart from the "pumping up" at higher revs, does it actually achieve anything ??

Ive had the cams done on my 4l, and carbon plenums, but the best money ive spent on the car was the nitrous kit, with 100bhp jets..... WOW thats fun when you hit the button on the steering wheel...

The pump up effect is needed across the whole rev range unless you want to be way off at either cold, or hot engine temps. The block is ali and the internals including lifters are steel, hence they expand at different rates. The lifters take up the slack and compensate for the different expansion rates.
