Im in process of sprucing up the old chim interior and have a little problem.

My car has heated seats - at least there is a heating element running the length of the seat and what looks like fireproof cardboard between it and the seat base foam.

The car has the switch fitted to the underside of the dash, and there are cables running to the seats from under the carpet. You can see the black cable aft of the seatbelt stalk below:

The problem is that whatever I do in terms of combination of ignition key settings and heated seat switch position I cannot get power through the cables which feed the seats.

I know the fuse is OK as I've checked, and the other devices on the circuit are working OK.

Is there a relay somewhere? If not I must have either (a) a faulty switch, or (b) a break in the circuit somewhere.

Anybody ??

Its under the dash top in the auxilliary relay panel (literally behind & left of the heater switch). You can test all of the wiring etc once the relay is pulled from the socket.

Switch live to relay - opposite pin should be ground.. power to the other from fusebox & opposite to seats ... then other seat connectrion to a good ground. Simple really?

Thanks Spend. The heated seats relay is front right hand, and is an R6L8 device:

All working now and I look forward to trying out the arse-warmers which after six years ownership I had no idea I had!
