Will complete chassis refurb with POR 15 paint soon, views by many is to leave as is and check over time and touch up,personally not sure.

Question is what would you coat over the paint with....wax oil or a.n.other.....some kind of grease/oil would be best personally?

Doing mine at the mo bud,and the route i will take is to leave it painted and thats it.The chassis is good on mine but i think another two years left and i would of had problems.my chassis was wax oiled but in my opinion this only hid problems, now i can see whats what and tackle things when they first show, have used por 15 etc so am hoping it will really last, good luck with yours

Waxoyl on top of a corroded chassis is probably not a great idea, because it does indeed hide what's going on. Even the clear stuff soon gets impregnated with dirt and will turn black anyway.

However, on top of a freshly refurbished chassis I think it's a good extra level of protection. It's what I've done to mine. In five years' time I'll probably scrub it off to see how things are keeping underneath, then re-do it.

I found on mine that the areas most rusted were where the wax oil had built up between the body and Chassis and held water!
I POR15'd mine (4 coats) then put white Enamel paint on top... and ever year I just clear it down with WD40 and a rag... and check for and marks on the white top coat... No problems at all! smile

Cheers guys for the comments, paintwork left alone and monitored will be fine for me,as stated, at least you can see whats going on, and its not hidden under any chassis treatment

Good man,if you dont mind getting under the car a few times in the year to check then in my eyes this is the way foreward.Would like to add that the por 15 product is in my eyes a very good product, and you will be happy with the end results im suresmile. One other thing if you ever get a chance to purchase some renovation ramps then do so as they are a real help when you own a classic car.
