Hello All,

Well... with all this wet weather, the Chim has developed a leak in the passenger footwell. Not sure where it's coming from, but the water seems to drip from left side of the footwell. frown Any ideas...? Where are the likely places it can leak? Has any-one tried rad-weld as a way of leaking these types of leaks or does it make a complete mess.

Any help appreciated as I'm running out of news paper to soak up the water.

Many thanks

Kim

Thanks. Had a look and noticed there's a slither of what looks to be sealant just on the corner. Have reseated it for now then will seal it later. So in the mean time I see what happens. Many thanks for the suggestion.

The heater valve is on the left hand side of the passenger footwell and that has a couple of hoses supplying it which will be getting on in years and starting to crack.

Of course, it could be rain leaks!

Thanks for the suggestion. I presume if it was the pipes to the heater valve the engine coolant would drop. Given the amount of water ingress I think it's rain otherwise I think I would have blown the engine to bits today eek

My heater valve soaked the footwell, but the actual leak was tiny, way too small to affect the cooling. Big clue is that the water absolutely stinks and you can feel the antifreeze in it.

Otherwise clean the hood, re-black it and give it a couple of coats of Renovo or Fabsil going over the "ears" of the hood as many times as you can. I got much better results with Renovo, but others have found different.

It doesn't feel like the hood should help what looks like a footwell leak, but it did the trick in mine.

Thanks, there's no antifreeze smell so pretty sure it's a rain water leak

It's been a while since I did the roof. I have a Leven Tech hood cover on for now, so will see if the hood is part of the problem.

Check the windscreen seal at the bottom on the passenger side. A poor seal on mine used to cause a leak into the footwell, which also took out several central locking relays & an alarm mobiliser (both are under the dash on the passenger side). Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. The bottom windscreen rubber bit has come away slightly on the passenger side, but am surprised that is can be the cause of so much water in the footwell. What about the wiper arms area; can they be prone to leaking?

Have you checked the side window to the top rubber seal under the the targa top.

The window is adjustable

Yes, the window is a tight up against the targa rubber as it goes. The hunt continues for now. I guess I'll have to get a hose onto it.. but not in in this frosty weather.
