Evening all, I'm getting back into TVRs. We had a 390SE for a while, we sadly sold it to a fella in Australia, I couldn't fit int the boot to go with it. Anyway we've sold our old Ford classic and I'm going to buy another TVR and keep it this time. So I'm looking at Chimies, Wedges and S's.
Tell me the great thing about a CHIMIE and what to look for - chassis etc. also if anyone knows of any for sale in the central belt of Scotland.
I've seen a silver one for sale in Broxburn but its pricey, if I go Chimie it means selling the main family car and funding it and getting a cheaper car for work. Which her indoors is happy for me to do!!!

Cheers

There is at least 2 for sale in Ayrshire and another the owner is thinking of selling up. The silver one has had loads of money spent on it but has been up for sale for ages.

Would be an idea to give Barry at TVR Ecosse a ring he was a great help when I was buying mine.

Do you know of the silver one. I bought an Audi earlier this year from them and really swithered about the Chim. But the sensible side said "not just now"

You already know all the great things about TVRs, and the the Chimaera has all of that too. What sets the Chimaera apart is its practicality - it's a car you can load up with a week's worth of luggage without your wife/gf having to compromise on all the shoes and other crap she wants to bring, and you've still got enough space to stow the roof.

You've correctly answered your own question there! It's the chassis outriggers that are the likeliest problem area.

Highland Pearl is the colour to go for, they're extremely rare and quicker by far than all the other colours wink

I wouldn't limit your search to the central belt of Scotland for a car like this.
It's worth spending £300 of fuel for a car that will save you £300 on bills in my opinion.

Dunno what your budget is either? But this might be worth a look?

Thats in Prestwick been up for sale about 9 months and it does look very nice.

I did not go see the one in Broxburne - thought it was too expensive and was not really wanting a silver one. Alan McDonald sports cars had a couple in as well when I was looking so maybe worth speaking to him

Alan McDonald has had a few within budget, HHC and JCT28 also have 4.0 Chims in budget at present... The one in Broxburn is quite pricey but i had a call today and its thought the silver one is not all its cracked up to be.. But i suppose without a good check over i cant comment... Anyway, £9500 is out of budget for a toy. Its to be a little less im told.. Santa is due soon alledgedly

I will be actively selling mine next year when the weather gets better. It's currently in storage in the north of Scotland but will be brought down to Perthshire probably March/April.
1994 5 litre with just over 50K up.
I'll do all the little jobs over the winter, put a fresh test on it and service it and it'll still be under £10K.
If there's any interest I'll send all relevant details.

Jim - epic lurking. Could you send me some details as well please? You're too far from me for me to be your most serious enquirer, but I'm looking and would travel for a good one. Thanks.

Yeah, figured that after I posted...was up at the car this weekend..all OK.
Haven't got any pics of it but will be back up north sometime over the holiday period..weather permitting.
The plate's getting removed at present, bit of hassle with DVLA as it's presently SORN and they won't proceed until I re-tax,which I wasn't going to do until March/April.
What info does anyone want and I'll update.

simboy1973, mine's still for sale, I can't fall foul of the mods by directing you to an ad because it's disappeared AGAIN from the new classifieds. PM me if you want details.
