Find 2 longer bolts with the same thread as the sump bolts, cut off their heads and threadlock one stud halfway down on each side of the block.
Changed all mine bar the oil switch one to studs/washers/nuts (5/16" UNC BTW), sealed the threads, another source of leaking gone.If you go for sealant as I did try to let it set overnight before refilling if you can, it works better.

Oil switch? It's the front 2 that need something removable, so that you can get the timing cover off by just lowering the front of the sump. If you use socket set screws as I advise, you can just spin them out with a key (but be warned some of the front covers don't have blind holes there so don't screw them in too deep ~ they would also require thread sealing)spend said:

I understand that but I cut slots in the ends of the studs to unscrew them if I should need to. I only use a screw in the oil switch one to make it easier to get the sump in, not for any other reason. Not saying it is the right/wrong way but works for me and doesn't leak
