hi guys just got myself a lovely Chimaera 4.5, at last! tvr,s there is a god really, lol im in heaven, see you all on a road somewhere soon! Alun.
Congratulations on your new aquasistion. I know what you mean about the S2, as I have an RS2 for a daily driver, but getting into the chimaera is such a massive event and brings great smiles all the way, even if the Audi is a class of its own in acceleration and top speed, the chim wins hands down.Enjoy the whole TVR experience and join your TVR car club region aswell, you wont regret it.

I went s2 to chim - then back to s1 lol !
I do like the S series and its a nice engine ..The front looks very classic but what put me off is the kit car style flat back end! Its a pity rearly ,they could of made the rear end any shape they wanted..The 2.8 or 2.9 S series are more of an every day car!
Hi Alun, hope you enjoy the Chim.
I came from an S3 and there are still elements of it I prefer. Obviously the Chim has a lot more power, but that 2.9 V6 was a very satisfying engine to wring out. I loved the way the note changed from a burble to a howl as you went through the rev range - it had more tonality to it than the V8 (which just seems to get progressively louder). Plus the S definitely felt more nimble in standard form.
The Chimaera is undoubtedly a better built car, though. It feels far more solid and the V8 is definitely the way to go for big power outputs.
Tyres vary. I can't be certain without Googling it, but have a feeling non PAS cars are 205 front, 225 rear as standard and PAS cars are generally 225 front 245 rear. You get all sorts of variations, but I don't think I've heard of anyone going down as far as 195. Sometimes people end up running non-standard sizes to try and maintain the speed rating, but I really wouldn't worry about that unless you plan to spend a lot of time at three figure speeds.

Totally agree with that. It may not be a V8, but I loved the noise my S3 made and it felt a lot more chuckable. I came from an S3 and there are still elements of it I prefer.
