Having problems getting my Chim to run. The car was stood for a few weeks and now is really hard to start and then misfires and wont rev and then cut's out. The fuel pump seems to be ok so I am really baffled at the moment, any advice would be great before I get a large hammer out !!!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply's all. Have checked all that and nothing. The fuel pump has been noisy for a time so think it may not be giving enough pressure, decided to remove it to look at it, in doing so the end nozzle broke off so going to have to get a new one before I can check anything else.

As per Simon's advice (dampness) it might be a good idea to get a new distributor cap and rotor while you are out getting /ordering the new pump.

Your description certainly 'sounds' classic ignition / timing / electrical related.

Best to eliminate dampness and possible carbon tracking at the outset. If the original cap & rotor turn out to be okay, then you have spares...

So are you getting a spark? mine went from running fine to not at all in a matter or a couple of minutes, it was the spark plugs, you would be suprised how quickly they can just fail.
