Good result. thumbup

Why do you think the fuelling needs adjusting - do you have an air/fuel graph of that run?

Realistically, going for a standalone ECU isn't going to bring a lot here; can't remember whether you already did the induction (trumpets/hoses - good for another 15ish hp and lbs/ft) but beyond that on a std 400 the next step really would be either supercharging it or a complete engine rebuild (best bang for buck would be a 4.6 bottom end and porting/3 angle valve grind etc on the TVR heads)...

my tuner told me he could make it a bit smoother by tuning the fueling a bit.i have the ACT 38MM carbon trumpets,k&n filter,ACT smooth elbow and custom exhaust and now the MC1 cam.so i am very close to the 240hp that TVR said it has!!!i was thinking of getting the V8d heads stage 3.what will it give me in torque and hp???

Last time my 400 was dyno'd it was pushing out 239 bhp on a standard cam, although MA has had a fiddle with it wink

It spent a few hours with him and it went from 208bhp @ 5550rpm to 239bhp @ 6100rpm.

He worked magic it would seem smile

whistle it was done by a previous owner (former PH mod), but I have all the printouts for the session.

It would be interesting to get it back on a dyno as it's been a few years since the last visit and the cam is now 112,000 miles old! It goes pretty well though smile

Im sure your map will cope with the MC1 cam ,Blitzracing will explain, other than you can use an adjstable fuel regulator but it`s a bit crude .The other options are a best guess map chip from Mark Adams ,all you need to do is tell him what mods you have done and cam spec ,he will have the data from a car he has tuned with the same engine spec in the past .Or you could go for the Plug&play but you will need some one knows what he is doing ,good thing about the plug@play you can go to wasted spark coil packs in the future .

I went for the malpassi 1:1 adjustable fuel regulator, you don`t want rising rate.

You can tweak the pressure up slightly with the guage and vac pipe removed. You will need some type of hose adapter from the rail.
This one was recommended by V8D

here is a picture of mine mounted on to the bonnet fastener(bottom left hand corner)

Good luck

There is no point considering a new ECU until you have specific data of what the current one is doing air/ fuel wise. You need the gas results from the rolling road to start with to see if there is an issue. As for a "bit smoother" the ECU normally runs in an emission compliant mode that does not suit the TVR engine that well. If you don't have to worry about the emmisions, then you can run a different non catalyst fuel map on the standard ECU thats better (Mark Adams can supply one that just plugs in), but you don't want the physical catalysts fitted if you run this map.

Great result thumbup

Either the MC1 or very similar TVR 885 would be my choice of cam. I just love the high torque it gives from very early on in the rev range and stays flat pretty much all the way through. Great for lazy driving and effortless overtaking.

Don't worry about the ECU Denis, spend the money on fuel in the tank instead and enjoy it for what it is.

Heres a power run on a 3.9 with a MC1 cam. The ports had been opened up and valve guides chopped down (done by the owner) and a smooth bore inlet pipe and no catalysts. Its still running a 14CUX and stock AFM (blue trace) and a stock TVR chip (catalyst map).

Its plug and play on the 14CUX loom, so that wire / resistor simply wont be used by the MS. The resistor and plug are worth keeping, as you can modify them to make the maps switchable for 14CUX owners
