Hi there,
Understand the Toyo T1R is being replaced by one called "Sport". You can still get both and have been previously happy with T1Rs. The Sports are a little cheaper at £120, with the T1Rs at £129 fitted/balanced etc.
Anyone used the Sports yet ?

Make sure you shop around, I bought 2 T1R,s 16 inch from Gaskills last year for £137.00 delivered. Fitting and balancing cost me a tenner.

Should have said that the tyres are actually for my Audi A4 (235/40 R18) but point taken. I have been tempted to buy the tyres on line and get fitted locally but I have two concerns:

1. What happens to the tyres when in transit. I know dealers get the tyres delivered to them but you'd hope that the delivery companies that they use know how to take care of this kind of product

2. If everyone buys tyres on line like this, local tyre dealers will go under and there won't be anyone to fit my tyres, less competition so on line prices go up and you have to drive miles to find a fitter, who then charges a fortune to fit because he has to make his profits from tyre fitting as no one buys tyres from him anymore. So happy to pay a little more to keep a good, independent, local dealer going who will be there to repair a puncture, refit a lost wheel weight or do tracking when I've had the suspension apart etc

Just looked at the Toyo UK site. The Toyo PROXES 4 is available in 15". That's a 'sports' tyre, I wonder how that would compare to the T1R

Have had T1 Sports on the rear of my Chim for a year and a half now and am pretty pleased. Not a hardcore 'sports' tyre but nice and progressive - which is what you want on these cars.

Indeed the T1R is being phased out - whether this means that eventually 15"T1 Sports are going to appear or that - as often is the case - punters are going to have to settle for a tyre lower in the range to cover for these sizes remains to be seen... Goodyear, for instance, still offers the ancient Eagle GSD-2 profile for the 205/55/15 size rather than the GSD-3 (which is getting on more than a bit itself)...
