Hi everyone I know tyre threads have been done to death but can anyone answer a couple of quick questions.
1. I have a 94 4.3 Chimeara with rear tyre size 225/50/16 can I swap this for 245/45/16 without any problems? (Reading the bible this seems to be ok as later chims had this size)
2.Are Goodyear F1's any good as I am considering them instead of Bridgestones?

Any feedback much appreciated.

Thanks
Howard Kendall.

245s will fit on the rims. I had them on my Chimaera. Some say they're a bit too grippy, some say you actually get more contact patch with 225s due to the rim width. Whatever. They looked great and did the job.

I have F1s on the T350T and they are very very very good. Personally I vote for Toyos on the Chimaera over SO3s if you have the choice. I think F1s will be fine, but have not tried them myself.

Edited to say www.mytyres.co.uk are great.

After all the good feedback on Eagle F1s, I wanted to get a set for my Griff - 245x45/16 & 225x50/15 - but, after waiting one month for them and getting a reply from Goodyear that they were on back order and not even on the manufacturing schedule, I had to give up and bought S03s instead.

You might want to check out actual stock before changing your profiles as I found ALL the big suppliers (Toyo, Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Dunlop etc) except Bridgestone to be out of stock and unable to supply these sizes despite all tyre centres (retail and web) being more than willing to quote prices (and take the dosh!).

The smaller profiles have much better availability as they are fitted to a wider range of vehicles.
