After looking at all them there engines I find myself feeling inadequate,it may be time for me to do a little polishing under the bonnet. With regards to the painted rocker covers, have they been done professionally or by your own fair hand? If hand painted what paint did you use and how did you achieve the stripe effect? Tried the search feature but it's not working so sorry if it's been covered before, newbie!

I actually used a set for painting brake calipers and had about half the pot of paint left over. This was perfect for the rocker covers so I painted them by hand thinking "I can always do it again if they turn out crap. The paint is a strange formula however which sort of evens out brush marks so they look great...especially when partly shadowed by the other engine bits so I left them like that.

The stripes are simply a few minutes with an electric-sander afterwards. This will only effect the high points, leaving the colour in the trenches between. Great effect for zero effort.
