You can't be serious? You clearly love the car, as I dream of waking up to see my Chim gleaming like yours (your pic in profile).
What additional costs are you talking about? After buying the car, assuming things aren't being a nightmare, the only real additional costs are the slightly more frequent and more expensive service charges. But we arent talking Tuscan money.
As for touring. I just took the Chim to Dijon and back in 6 days, and had a wonderful time, with eyes flicking on the car to see what it is, and heads turning when they first heard the rumble of the V8 coming down the street. Just had to check the oil and water before heading back, which hadn't dropped a bit! If your going a bit further, take the bible, a few spares and have some faith.
Roof down, sun shinning you can't really beat it. If you've got the car already, surely you can't let it go for the sake of an additional £500 service fee can you?

Cripes - you've spend £5k on maintenance on the car in a year? I havent spent that in 3!!! I am not suggesting that the people who have looked after your car are ripping you off - but might it be a good idea to double check things - thats an awful lot of money on "stuff" which should only happen rarely. Its one thing to have a "money no object" method to running TVR's but you can quite easily run one for less....
Might it be worthwhile talking to someone like David Batty to get it checked out to see if there are any additional things that need doing. if there are then fine, ditch it. But if not then you are looking at getting rid of a car which should serve you well for a couple of years with minimal costs.....

just had it serviced and the insurance is due. Straight on the credit card. what with the mortgage and the car payments and the travel cost into london.
The costs have all come at once (service + insurance that is), i understood this when i bought the car but then I was blinded by the fact that i loved the car and couldn't care about the costs involved.
on a good thing (if it is) i received a quote from peart for £930..i'm currently with tescos which was £1750.

Unless I am reading it wrong:
1/3rd on insurance (hopefully coming down)
1/3rd on a respray (hopefully not a regular occurence)
1/6th on upgrades (which you don't have to do every year)
1/6th on maintenance
Perhaps viewed in a different perspective it isn't so "expensive" for what you get?

Come on. That is one plus.
I drive my wifes motor now and again and it is just not right.
Keep the TVR and have one less Chinese takeaway a week.
