Hi guys I have the Dash out of my chimp (I am selling it later in the year) as it has the usual cracking problem. My question is, is it more appealing to have the wood veneer, painted silver, or carbon fibre effect etc ? from a buyers point of view. The reason I ask is from a personal point of view it wouldnt bother me I just wondered what others thought ? thanks. biggrin

Do you mean painted silver (?) or stainless steel.

I quite like the look of that suede type fabric (alcantara?) against the silver of the dial surrounds. What colour car and interior?

when i went looking for a chim, the whole idea was to get a "classic british car" thus wood and leather where a must. silver looks too german ;-)

Yeh we thought of painting the steel backing silver in 2pack with 2pack laquer on top, alcantara is the suede type material I think

Just got mine changed from walnut to stainless. Will pick the car up on Sat. Was just a bit tired of the wood look. It's classical yes, but it's a sports car afterall. The German look doesn't bother me too much, I'm German after all smile

PS: Thought about issues I might encounter when selling the car as well in case people prefer wood; will just change it back if needed.

I'd probably choose walnut to go with the green, or try fabric as mentioned - steel seems to go better with blues IMO.

This links to mine which I did last year, same interior as you described, veneer from mail order, Cherry was the code, but was stained in oak several times to give it a more depth of colour, pics dont do it justice

Just copy link into web browser, should take you there

Have to agree. Wood seems to be a more sensible choice to match the classic British green look in this instance, but obviously a very personal choice.

About £20 bought a roll of suede, and spray glue and a razor blade

Here it is in the glueing phase

As I say in the origional post personally it doesn't bother me its just from a selling point of view. I suppose in time the wood will inevitably crack again.
