Chimaera Wheel Group Buy
Discussion
How do,
I`ve been talking in principal with a well know wheel manufacturer about a replica Spider wheel for the Chimaera in the correct offset and stud pattern for a direct fit to the Chimaera, I would like your thoughts on the preferred wheel dimensions i.e. size, width and offset. If we can drum up enought interest then i can pass on the numbers and get some real costs.
This has all come about due to being involved in a group buy on some other wheels for my other project, The wheel below is a well know rally wheel from an Escort, In order to get them into production a minimum order of 60 wheels was needed

120 if two different sizes ?
Could they be drilled for either 4 or 5 stud fitment ? (I don't mean lots of holes like Halfords wheels)
A master wheel mould has to be cast, so if two different sizes are required then either it would cost us more to purchase or more folk required for the order, as for the fitment the wheels come out blank and i`m sure 4 or 5 stud fitment could be specified. So whats your favourite size? Could they be drilled for either 4 or 5 stud fitment ? (I don't mean lots of holes like Halfords wheels)
If we can get 10-15 folk on a maybe then i`ll ask for an exact costSILICONEKID340HP said:
They look fantastic ! but im happy to go 16" 17". been down that route got rid of the front 17" wheels ,horrible to drive.
I`ve had 18" allround and must say it was very crashy on the front end! due mainly to the elastic band tyres and probably worn out bushes but handling wise it felt finehaircutmike said:
Handling won't be bad but crashy, yes!
In the real world we need a bit of tyre wall to soak up the crappy road surface.
I have some 40 profile tyres on a set of 17" road wheels and they're awfull!
Thats why mine went to the Red Barron..you have a fighting chance with 16" fronts but aesthetics are compromisedIn the real world we need a bit of tyre wall to soak up the crappy road surface.
