Hi all

I've been trawling the forum and web for hours but cannot find an answer.

I have an early chim - 93.
I was planning on freshing up the interior but I have the chance to get an interior from a later model. Would it fit? Are there any differences apart from the centre console with the door release being in a difference place?
I know the heater controls are different, but i cannot seem to find out if the seats, door cards, carpets, top and bottom dash panels are the same? I didn't want to gamble on buying the interior if it isn't going to fit.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Brett

Mines early '93 and as you say the door opener position is the only "obvious" difference. Gear knob for Rover box, LT77, is marked differently to T5 box.

Seats and all the rest are the same I think you'll find, the only exception could be the half-hide/full-hide options that owners took and heated seats??

Dashes are different depending on the make of the instruments, but the overall physical size is the same. Some will also have extra LEDs for ice warning. The radio panel changed in 95/96/97 (?) or rather the way in which lights etc are switched on/off!! Extra switches under dash for options/cooling fans etc.

Some models (don't think it's year releated) have blowers installed left side of passengers feet (normal) and right handside of drivers feet (an option?), so feeds to vents may be of different routes behind/under-dash. Under radio panel some have air vents, early (mine) just has a void for storage. Air conditioning would/could add to pipery under dash.

So............not much difference then????

Unless your interior is really tatty I think you'd spend a lot of time not achieving much. As said, they are "basically" the same (I've had a 93 and a 96) so why not just give yours a good clean and renovate with suitable products rather than the aggro of swapping the same bits over from another car.

You would be amazed what some jif and a toothbrush will do to the vinyl armrests for starters, then you've got all the leather products for the seats - get yourself a new carpet set if required, leather gear gaitor made up and perhaps a new dashboard set if you like and I reckon you'd be suprised with the results smile If you want to make it more "modern" why not track down some elise seats and fit them instead - that job is on my list for sometime.

Sorry about this guys why wording wasn't that clear.

I'm going to be keeping the original dash/dials, but my interior is just a bit tatty so if i can get a good deal on cream (mines black currently) i would want to change

seats
carpets
dash top/bottom (just the leather section, leaving original dials and switches etc in place)
door panels
the trim on the roof pillars

the the wood dash panel and switch gear wouldn't matter. i think they later models have different windows switches but thats ok.
i can get the original centre section recovered in cream to match.

i was looking at like 350 for carpet set so if i can get an interior for a couple hundred more i thought it's a good deal? but didn't want to buy it to find things wouldn't fit like the carpet or door covers etc but i'm guessing it's about the same?
