Thought I'd better turn the car over as it's been SORN'd since the end of Sept. Charged the battery overnight and turned the key this afternnon. What I got was not the usual healthy fuel pump being primed noise, but a coughing and stuttering fuel pump. Turned the key to start her up, not expecting anything, but she started no problem. Turned her off after letting her warm up, and went to start her again, but the coughing fuel pump was still there. Didn't go for a drive cos there's no MOT. A very very slight miss is also there.

So, does this sound like a new fuel pump is in order? It was getting a bit noisy last summer IIRC.

Thanks in advance.

Go underneath the car and check the spade connections to the fuel pump (easy peezy, nearside rear, behind wheel) if it as been laid up for a little while these are liable to corrosion, clean em up and reassemble with a spot of Vaseline or silicone grease wink if that's no good I would suspect a dying fuel pump relay frown
